I can DRIVE now!?

The title is not clickbait! I passed the permit test and officially can run you over at any moment! Oh, and my birthday was lovely, thanks for asking! My DMV experience was surprising quick and pleasant, which apparently never happens! I didn't have an appointment (which I guess you're supposed to have?) but they let me in anyway. The woman who let me in anyway was really nice and also giving off such intense gay vibes, which isn't really relevant, but is to me? The test was pretty quick, and I only got two questions wrong despite not really studying and kind of guessing. In my defense, I took all the practice tests, but I guess they don't reflect the actual test that well, because some of the questions were totally not even on there. I do feel really proud of myself for getting some right, like the ones about carbon monoxide (?) which I knew had no scent just from reading either a book or a fanfic in which some awful car accident thing happens. After the test, the ...

Parenting Mazes

Friday, it was about 2 degrees out and the snow was up to around my knees. My animals hate the snow- the dogs are both too short to walk through it, it's too powdery for the cat, and the goats don't enjoy being cold or wet. We have a path shoveled up to the goat shed, and another over to the garage, which allows the dogs (and Alex the cat) a little room, but not much. The goats have stayed inside the "barn" the past few days and are a little depressed. Anyway, it was freezing Friday, but I tossed on snowpants (and, you know, a coat and other winter stuff?) and grabbed a shovel anyway. I didn't have school (midterms!) so I spent maybe around an hour freezing my nose off while shoveling a maze in our backyard. It's pretty big, covering a lot of the hill, and connects up to the goat run. I let the girls out, and they were maybe the happiest I've seen them. I went to the end of my maze to try to see who'd come to me first. The answer is none, because goa...

Pulp- R. Talley

After reading multiple books that were not really my style (Expect a hate filled review of Catcher in the Rye soon!) I read a book just for me because I wanted to, and it was maybe only 40% not very good! Considering I enjoy hating things, that pretty impressive. This is super spoilery, but I don't want any of you to read it anyways, so we're good. I pushed myself with more historical fiction because I figured I should find a book in that genre to have a positive experience with? I don't know. Anyway, I read  Pulp  by R. Talley. It was told from two perspectives, Abby, a lesbian teen living in 2018, and Janet, a lesbian teen from the 1950's. Although Abby was a character more like myself and very similar to other YA characters I love, I found myself a lot more interested and happier with Janet and her story. I think enjoying that older part of the story was an good experience for me to have, because I'm not a history kid. Are the 1950's even far back enoug...

Boomwhackers, exhibitions, and other life updates

I had a wonderful break in which I only left the house once! Sunday, some friends came over, and we played boomwhackers. They stayed over for a while and I still felt happy! Videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/mWmECzFrunifeaxR8 https://photos.app.goo.gl/fcguPf2cp6WV8PRs6 This week at school we have exhibitions, which is where students give a 25 to 30 minute presentation of their learning. I got mine out of the way and did it yesterday, and it felt really good and I'm happy with the result. My slideshow was pretty, and I smiled and projected and I think people were impressed/satisfied. For my interaction component, I brought in crickets for everyone to eat, and almost everybody did, which I wasn't expecting! Even the adults! I felt really good about that.  Everyone's reviews are very nice (with Elizabeth's being one of the meanest) and I think I did a pretty good job for my first exhibition. Also there are no other life updates, except my goat is pregnant...
