Afterworlds- S. Westerfeld

It's finally time for another edition of "What's Delilah Been Reading?"! After reading approximately 1 book in 3 months, Librarian Lisa knocked some sense into me and I finished 3 books over break. To quickly talk about the other two: Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introverts Story - D. Tung This one's a small little graphic novel! It's short, but adorable and was nicely relatable, though straighter than I was hoping for. (Don't) Call Me Crazy- 33 Voices Start the Conversation about Mental Health - K. Jensen This was a collection of pieces from different authors about their experiences with mental health. Some parts were kind of boring, and I think it needed more poetry. The main reason I read it was because Adam Silvera had a piece in it. His piece was amazing. I love Adam Silvera. Also, the rest was pretty good. But! Back to the point. I was so desperate to start reading again that I took whatever Lisa recommended and just went in and starte...

Fruit & Vegetable Texture Ratings

I have rated fruits and vegetables by their texture and not their taste. Apple- 8 when it's good and crunchy. 3 when it's not. Crunch is very important in an apple. Avocado- 9 when it's perfectly ripe. 0 at all other times. Weird texture if you're not expecting it. Asparagus- 3 because it's a bit stringy/chewy. Banana- 0. Awful texture. Weird and mushy except there's strings? Terrible idea. Blueberry- 2. Would taste like eyeballs if it was bigger. Sometimes skin is weird combo with insides. Bean (green)- 7 when it's a good size, 1 if it's too big. Then it gets too chewy and the skin is too tough. Broccoli- 7 for top, 2 for little trunk thing. Not great raw. Cucumber- 8 when it's small enough. Large cucumbers have the same problem as beans, except the seeds get gross too. Cauliflower- 3? kinda like broccoli except sort of reminds me of flour. Clementine- 9 when you peel the little skin off the pieces. 7 when you don't. Clementine textur...

ADK Youth Climate Summit

I drove 5 hours to go to the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit, which was being hosted by The Wild Center. It was a good chance to see some people that I hadn't seen in a while, and also a great learning experience. I was there to volunteer, and also got to attend some workshops. Because the volunteering parts were... more boring, here are the fun parts of my day! I arrived a little late, so the first little section thing had already started. It was the classic climate change presentation, one that I had seen presented twice before, by Wild Center employees. The presenter was Curt Stager, who is a professor over at St. Pauls College. Mixed in with his super sciencey climate change talk was this guy, Larry Montague, who raps about climate change. He was super talented and really entertaining! Then workshops started. I attended one about climate change podcasts, one from the rap guy, and one about racism in the food system. None of them were particularly amazing, although the podca...
