All the things I've been reading!

It's been a while, so here's a quick list of the books I've read recently! Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) - L. A.C. Rosen 3/10. I did appreciate the representation, and agree with the concept of books like it existing, but it felt a little whiny, and also was a little too fluffy for me. Link will bring you to a description, and a whole lot of goodreads reviews. Anger is a Gift - M. Oshiro 8/10! Really good! Like if Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda  and The Hate U Give  had a child. Definitely read it if you liked either of those and are in the mood to cry. I impulse bought it within 24 hours of starting it. So. Good. I'll post a fuller review of this one soon. It's really hard to get myself to do math!

Because I'm doing math online, I have the ability to pick when I do my lessons and where and if I fall behind, nobody really notices or creates a punishment. This means I need to really work hard to keep myself motivated enough to stay on track. Here are some patterns and techniques I've noticed happening when I need to do math. I get sidetracked when I'm in a lesson by something else I need to do, because nobody is making me stay on task and I do lessons at home. I am VERY easily sidetracked, so when I'm in a math lesson I either talk myself into staying on task, kind of like how you'd talk to a toddler ("Doing math is important too, so let's stay focused on this lesson and we can do that other thing later!"), or I use the other thing I want to get done as a reward ("Okay, you can go brush your hair once you finish 3 more questions!). I get distracted by texts and snapchats and other notifications. I know that eliminating my phone would...
